Got Plings that you want to publicise?
If you are an organisation that provides positive activities for young people, then let us know. We are currently publishing information from activity providers in Stockport and Manchester, in partnership with the local authorities.
News watchers
We need people to look after small areas of the country, to monitor our news feeds for stories about young people. This means tagging stories in a google reader account. These stories are then fed to the pligg news aggregator at http://pligg.plings.net.
If you are interested in doing this, contact us so we can set you up with all the tools you need.
Got photos?
We have 50,000 potential places to go in our database, but we don't yet have them all photographed. We've been using Flickr to host images of Places to Go, and we want to add more places. You can help by:
- uploading your own photographs of 'places to go' on Flickr and tagging them.
- joining our flickr group at: http://www.flickr.com/groups/plingsplaces.
- checking http://places.plings.net for places near you. If you want to add a photo for a place, get it into Flickr and tag it with the 'machine tag' of the place given at http://places.plings.net.
About tagging
Make sure you add as much detail as you can to your photo. This means, giving it a good title, and tagging it with the town/city, area, type of activities that take place there, and so on.
About machine tags
If you add a machine tag to a photo, Plings can use it straight away. Our Flickr machine tags look like this: plings:place=18733
The number is a unique number for a place in the database. To find the unique number, and the machine tag, of a place you need to look it up at http://places.plings.net.
